President's Message - August 2023

Greetings KC ASHRAE Members,

We are going to have an awesome year with the KC ASHRAE Chapter! I am humbled and honored to get the privilege to lead this wonderful group! At our board meetings, I challenge the board to put the FUN back in ASHRAE. Fun. Universal. New. We want to emphasize that our events be fun, you have many choices of professional organizations, we want you to want KC ASHRAE to be the most fun. We are stressing that our events are open to everyone – for example, a 41-year-old white male, like me, happily attends YEA and Diversity in ASHRAE (DiA) events! Finally, we want to continue offering new events to attract different portions of our membership. 

Join us at an upcoming event! In the month we have the following events: YEA Happy Hour (Aug 31^st), our chapter meeting (Sep 11^th) and our Day at the K (Sep 29^th). Add these dates to your calendar, but we are only getting started! We are going to emphasize more and different events this year. One new event we are planning is a student chapter event in Topeka for our three university chapters (KU, KSU and UMKC), remember everyone is welcome at this event. There are several more that are early in the planning stages but aren’t ready to be announced yet.  

We are looking for Committee Chairs! KC ASHRAE can be great for your career, whether you work for an engineering firm, contractor or sales rep. You will make great connections and friends. You can also learn valuable leadership lessons. Please connect with me, or any of our other committee members, if you are interested in learning about our open spots.

New Year – New Website!! Hopefully you have seen the announcements about our new website! If not, check out www.kcashrae.org and setup your account. You will also need to add [email protected] to your list of safe senders. This will ensure you receive updates on our events.

Thank you for your support of our chapter! I am extremely excited to serve this chapter this year. KC ASHRAE has an incredible reputation both locally and throughout the entire ASHREA society. Let’s help make 2023-2024 a FUN year!
